Groups Come Together to Promote Tolerance

Tolerance is the message on the UNC-CH campus
this week.
The Campus Y's Students for the Advancement
of Race Relations is working with other
groups to promote racial togetherness.
Race Relations Week encourages people to
get to know different cultures and races,
not just to put up with them.
Meanwhile, the Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgendered-Straight
Alliance is sponsoring National Coming Out
Week.
Events such as an ice cream social are generating
an atmosphere designed to help make students
more comfortable with being open about their
sexuality.
The two groups hosted a talk Monday by Rebecca
Walker, an activist who spoke about racial
and sexual identities.
