Men's
Baskbetball Plays Two
by Brad Broders
Carolina
looked to thrust the Scarlet Knights out of the
Smith Center in the second round of the Preseason
NIT.
Early
on, Sean May showed his entire offensive game,
scoring 18 points.
But
Rutgers started out strong in the second half
after they took an eleven point lead with seven
minutes remaining.
But
UNC did not panic.
Instead,
they used the clutch play of their youngsters
to trim the margin.
The
Heels then watched Rutgers absolutely fall apart
down the stretch and took advantage, coming back
to win in the final minute 71 to 67.
On
Sunday, the Heels took a break from the NIT to
take on Old Dominion.
The
Heels' youth showed in the form of 19 turnovers,
but Carolina held on 67-59 to improve to 3-0.
